Engine rev and speedometer jumps to 120mph after start

Replaced starter on my 04 sebring v6 limited with a pep
boys reman. Every couple days right after initial start there
is a slight quick grinding noise and the engine revs and
almost dies and the speedometer jumps way up while it is
still in park. I am guessing i need a different starter but
want to check if this is a transmission issue too?

While you're under there, look to see if your vehicle speed sensor plug is loose or has oil in it.
