Question type: Maintenance & Repair

There is no fuse for it.  The "lamp" buttons work but nothing happens when "mode" is
pressed.

It has to be on a circuit protected by a fuse I would think. Protection against fire if nothing else. Is the display part of the instrument panel? If so your only alternative is to find one rebuilt as there is normally no serviceable parts within the cluster except small gears which run the odometer if it is analog. If you go the new cluster route make sure you purchase one calibrated.

This is above the rear view mirror. It has a black screen that shows the direction you are going (compass) and the outside temperature. It has 3 buttons. 1 for each lamp that is above it and 1 for mode. When you press it it goes from Fahrenheit to Celsius.

If it is separate and apart - stand alone it should be able to be replaced. I doubt if there are serviceable parts

Thank you. I will call Ford and see how much they value this little jewel. Maybe another choice would be to get one off a junker. I found it comes off with 2 screws and snaps off and on. I love my Explorer and it's holding together pretty good, just a few things like this not working anymore. Thanks again!

You may have to check for a junker or the net for the part. My oldest explorer is a 99, and they do hold up good, especially the older ones. From experience I have learned Ford stocks few parts on vehicles older than ten years old in categories not related to engine parts.
