Today I put a shiny paper bag on the passenger seat and the "side air bag
off" warning light came on. This bag weighed almost nothing, what
happened?

Almost nothing! That's what floored me. It was a decorative gift bag for Christmas gifts and weighed a couple ounces. Is there some way the reflective brightness of the bag could activate some kind of sensor?

Wow--that's what I thought...but I swear the light came on my dash when the EMPTY bag was placed on the seat...fascinating!
