I changed the timing chain and it's still making the noise as it was before
describe the noise - clattering - ticking ect - engines make noise naturally, please be more specific
ok - is it a ticking noise from the top of the engine? how long have you owned the vehicle, is it a new noise? These engine are known for excessive injector ticking noise
take a large long screwdriver and place it on different areas of the engine the noise is coming from and put your ear up to the top of the screw driver - it will help you pinpoint the location of the noise
if the timing was off it would run like crap - how does it run
ok lets get some basic info here - how many miles are on the vehicle? Auto or Manual Transmission. How long have you owned it? is this a noise that just started? Have you checked all the pulleys and bearing?
is the check engine light on?
I'll tell you what - here is a great site to help diagnose you mustang engine noise - please return the favor and check "mark helpful" for me - http://www.mustangandfords.com/how-to/engine/mump-1209-diagnose-underhood-engine-noises/
There is a 126,000 miles on it and it is manual and I owned the car for four years and the noise been happening and I did check the pulleys and bearings and it wasn't it
you might be getting some internal wear - here is a feed that discusses this issue as well http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forums/4-6l-tech/147751-does-anyone-have-info-engine-ticking-knock-2001-mustanggt-4-6ltr.html
I would hate to have you chasing a normal injector noise - you could spend a lot of money only to find out it normal
