Help anti theft not letting car start
Asked by Lindsay Oct 28, 2016 at 05:07 AM about the 2002 Ford Mustang Convertible
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2002 mustang 3 weeks ago my
alternator was changed later that day the
car died it would crank but not start
thought it was the PCM. Replaced PCM
did a parameter reset with keys car
started worked great for 2 days died
again. Towed it to a mechanic they
replaced the PCM they had the car 2
weeks. I picked it up yesterday the car
died 15x I had to have it towed back to
the mechanic. They test drove it and they
died on the highway. I was told the anti
theft was kicking in and that's why the car
is stalling. I think this was probably the
issue in the first place. Only nobody can
figure out why. Is it possible that
changing the alternator (even though the
battery and alternator seem fine) is
causing this to happen? Of not what is?
Please help I haven't had my car in
3weeks and have spend over 1000 btw
resetting the keys the pcm I got the pcm
the mechanic got. Labor ECT.

Have you taken it to ford to get re-flashed? Any Ford dealer should be able to run a diagnostic get you flashed & get you rolling in no time usually $75-$150 to get it done!
I had a similar problem .theft light started flashing 2 weeks prior to my 2004 limited edition mustang wouldn't start one night. Theft control activated somehow? it would crank but wouldn't start. so i held my old key that had broken earlier this year next to my new key as i turn ignition back & forth not attempting to start it. old key somehow reset or fixed new key cause theft light went off and car started with ease . could have been just lucky that day but it worked

1998 mustang the broke so the chip broke with it
So I have an issue with my 2000 Gt I had a remote start installed as I pulled out of the lot the anti theft light came on and the car died..It is now at the Ford dealer and they are saying my fuel pump went out. My thoughts are somehow the installer of the remote start messed up my car. He either fried my fuel pump or something else in the car
I had a similar problem with my mustang and all it was for me was the fuel reset switch located on the panel below the steering wheel beside your feet. If you press that down you should here your fuel pump kick back on.
I was having similar issues with mustang gt 2000 now it is flashing abs, airbag, anti theft and radio flashing crazy then lights went out then died and want crank back up like battery’s dead what’s ur opinion
Ford Mustang 2004. The theft light was flashing on. The key seems to be non electronic. No battery door. The key would not advance in the ignition system. The only thing that worked was the lock/ unlock door buttons. I disconnected the negative battery terminal and waited 10 minutes. I reconnected the negative battery terminal. The car started right away.
How do I get theft mode off my 2003 Mustang gt
Bad ground bye the battery clean off wear the ground is and put it back on bad ground
