won't start when it has been running

Most likely it's a failing fuel pump. If you roll up the windows and sit quietly, you should be able to hear the fuel pump run for 3 seconds when you turn the key on (not to start). Try it when it quits next time. The fuel pressure is best tested with a gauge. Remember the Fire Triangle - it takes Fuel, Heat and Oxygen to make fire. One of them is missing and it's likely the electrical component that warms up and fails then cools off and works again. It will quit completely soon.
