2008 Chrysler Sebring engine stalls immediately after startup

Asked by PastaPylon Oct 08, 2020 at 07:56 PM about the 2008 Chrysler Sebring Limited Convertible FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible 3.5 V6 130K
miles and the engine will stall right after starting up.
Sometimes if I hold the key and crank it it will start other
times it will just die. If I don't hold the key it will start then
stall. If I give it throttle while cranking sometimes it will
start, other times it will stall. I've tried both of my keys and
the same thing. A coworker said it might be a fuel issue, so
I took some samples from the line before the injectors and
it is fine. No blockage or stuff in the fuel. I added an octane
booster and have used injector cleaner and that hasn't
helped. When it does run it seems down on power. I called
the dealership and they said it was a key programming
issue. Not sure if I should take their word on it or not. This
issue just started a couple days ago. Put my car into
reverse and the BRAKE and ABS lights came on and the car
almost stalled. Backed into the driveway, went to move it
and this started. Not sure where to go from here. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

So there are a few things it could be so you need to do some testing and figure out what's going on. Have you tried starting fluid to see if it keeps running longer with starting fluid? Did you actually test fuel pressure? Is the key or anti theft light flashing or staying on? Is there any other symptoms like a check engine light and If there is a check engine light what are the codes? It could very well be a fuel pump, failing ecm, immobilizer issue but again theres literally ten things that could cause your issue we need more info in order to help you.
