2008 f 150, 5.4 turn key on and starter engages, truck will not start and starter to continues o run for about 45 seconds

I'm getting fuel, getting spark. When I turn the key, the starter stays engaged and the
truck will not start. I removed the starter and bench tested it, it turns over and appears to
be working fine. Do the electronics of this truck prevent it from starting when its onboard
computer senses a problem with the starter solenoid? I do not have the tools to bench
test the solenoid output. What should I check/do?

With newer electronics on engines it could be just about anything. If you are sure you are getting spark to the plugs then move on to air. Is the filter clogged. Remove the filter and try to start. If it does not start that is not your problem. Test the fuel pressure on the fuel rail with the ignition on but engine not running. You'll need a tester for this. About fifty bucks for a decent one. Then you can move on the the TPS and the CPS.
