whirling sound under hood

I have a 2008 Ford F150 truck and when you have been driving it for a while
you hear a whirling noise under the hood. Also the temp gage will climb some
and the ac gets warm. You can turn the ac off and the temp goes back down
but the whirling sound continues. what is going on?
