Fan noise when driving my BMW

My 535 xi has a high pitched fan noise when I’m driving the car.  This noise
starts with a low pitch fan noise and then high pitch fan noise.  I have 90k
miles on the vehicle and it has been a great car.  Please help?

Does it sound like the engine fan? It's normal for the fan to change speeds while driving, especially when it's hot outside, but if it's excessively loud it may be worn out.
