compression check, if your engine valves are bend, then you'll get a misfire fault, or crank & no start symptom.
Running a compression test on an engine with a broken timing belt will show nothing unless a new belt is installed and properly timed. The early 1993-'97 3.5L engines are non- interference engines, so if the timing belt snaps or jumps time, the engine won't bend any valves. The all-aluminum 1998-2010 engines, however, are interference engines.
