300m Special - 235/55 18's

Question type: Car Customization

My car came with 245/45 18's (Michelin Pilot Sports) and I recently replaced them with 235/55 18's (Pilot Sport A/S). My spedometer is now off because of the larger diameter tires. I really like the smoother ride but got a ticket for 40mph when it said I was doing 35mph. Guessing, when it says 70, I'm really doing 80. Is there a way to calibrate the speedometer to a larger tire size?

The tire size change you performed should not adversely effect your speedometer performance. But for some ungodly reason that it actually made a difference, the dealership might be able to program the new tire size into the module. Some years to not have the functionality to allow tire variance programming.

Thanks for the response. The new tire are actually 235/50 18's not 235/55 and they are the tallest tire I could get to fit inside the strut plate without rubbing or making other mods. I definitely notice less jump out of the hole but enjoy the smoother ride. Has anyone else gone to taller tires? I will ask the dealer if an adjustment could be made to compensate.
