manual transmission removal

clutch needs changed and i'm having an issue get the transmission to separate from the
motor. i've read the throw out bearing needs unclipped from the pressure plate but i can't
figure it out. any help would be appreciated. thanks

a throw out bearing would be clipped to the fork. The fork would be clipped to the trans in the bell housing. some thr, out brg. are attached to the release cylinder, they ride the fingers of a pressure plate. they are not clipped to them. if the bearing became rough, the rpm of the engine would cook it and it would stick and twist up like a screw, that would stop an engine or break something larger and more difficult to obtain or replace. a thr. out. br. is supposed to be the thing that wears and gets replaced (cheaply) ha ha ha. If your trans cannot come loose there can simply be a bind. the disc can be dragging on the input of the trans, the input could be stuck in the pilot, the disc can be stuck to the flywheel face surface. if you can, and the parts are level and not bound by their own weight falling as you have them supported, use a jack to push the heavier of the two up as you pry them apart, if it is still stuck and you can, depress tha clutch pedal as you control the trans movement to come away from the engine. Have a helper assist ?
Hi what you have is a modular clutch....in other words it will be like a auto trany with four bolts that have to be removed from the fly wheel ...I have cut and pasted from the shop manual.....Manual transaxle equipped vehicles utilize a modular clutch assembly (Modular Clutch Assembly). The transaxle must be removed to gain access to and replace the modular clutch, drive plate, and/or clutch release bearing and lever. The modular clutch assembly used in this vehicle consists of a single, dry-type clutch disc, a diaphragm style clutch cover, and an integrated flywheel. The clutch cover is riveted to the flywheel, containing the clutch disc within. The modular clutch can only be serviced as an assembly. The clutch disc has cushion springs riveted to the disc hub assembly. The clutch disc facings are riveted to the cushion springs. The facings are made from a non-asbestos material. The clutch cover pressure plate assembly is a diaphragm type unit with a one-piece diaphragm spring with multiple release fingers. The pressure plate release fingers are preset during manufacture and are not adjustable.
The answer to the askers question still has to be...........get the two components level, try to pull or pry them gently and evenly apart. If the input is dragging or the disc is dragging, you must push it apart by depressing the clutch pedal.... RIGHT ?
