as I was coming home from work my Chrysler LHS was good and warm I stopped at a red light it started cooling off I got closer to home it ran hot and it died out down to started is that the thermostat

You could have a bad thermostat, but it sounds like there's low rad fluid moving through the heater core. Maybe a clogged heater core, heater core lines, too low temperature thermostat, or the water pump is not circulating enough.
