Engine replacement

Asked by Allison Jun 20, 2018 at 07:57 AM about the 2007 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Limited Wagon AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We have a 2007 Subaru legacy wagon that we have loved and
taken great care of for many years. Last weekend it appears
that it threw a rod and blew out the engine, there is a hole in
the top of the engine. The car is in incredible condition with
just under 235k miles and was supposed to be passed down
in a couple years. We think we want to replace the engine and
keep the car but this seems scary.... Where do you even go to
get a new engine?!? How do I find the "best/right" one?
Thanks for any help!

You could buy another engine and have it rebuilt or go online and buy a crate engine which would be my choice. Are you sure you want to spend that much money on a high mile car?
