Why does the airbag light stay on

Turn the ignition and on comes the airbag light

common problem with these generations is caused by the overhead console. there is an issue with the circuit board for the airbag indicator lights and it causes the airbag light to stay on and sets a dtc 26 in the module. when you first turn on the ignition all 3 amber lights "ON, PASS, and OFF" up in the overhead console should light up for a few seconds. if the "off" light in particular doesn't function, it will always set a code and trigger the airbag light. I offer a repair for the overhead console on Ebay. search item #143328485880. It's $35 which includes sihpping back to you.
