its always in the trunk. open the trunk look on left hinge that opens the truck ,its a white sticker. to put in your personal code maybe one you can remember simply put in the original code from the trunk then push the 1-2 and the 3-4 button at same time hold for 5 sec then enter a code you can remember only 5 digits ,the doors will lock and then unlock indicating its changed your original code will also work. if battery goes down or is taken out the original code will only work 3 times until new battery is installed

it is no where on the car, you will have to have it pulled from the module by a dealer or a shop with the proper software. They stopped putting the code on the Town car in 2004

Thanks Tony! Been listening to too many idiots and I’ve just about tore my car apart looking for that elusive code. Mine is a 2004 ultimate. Figures LOL. Thanks again brother. Always appreciate accurate information from knowledgeable people like yourself.

Since I’ve got you on here now. I just bought a couple aftermarket key Phibes for that same car. 2004 town car ultimate. Follow the instructions like I’ve always done on previous Mercurys forwards etc. and it didn’t work. Tried it again did not work. Says turn key on and off four times within three seconds ending with the car in the run position put any key on the key fob within 20 seconds and the door locks should actuate. That didn’t Happen. Repeated the steps to no avail. Could have other issues. When I got the car the key fob with only lock not unlock the car and the only thing that works now is the trunk release on the key fob. Any info is greatly appreciated especially if it’s accurate :-). Body on frame Rear Wheel Dr., V8 luxury cars made in America all the way!

Just switched my remote fob on my 2005 Lincoln town car. Take the ignition key put it in the ignition and turn the key to on and off eight times you will hear the door click. Once the door clicks press a button on the new remote and the door should lock or open then you are set.

Start with being in the car with the doors shut and unlocked. You have to turn the key to the last location short of cranking the car 8 times within a 10 second period (very fast) and stop with the key in the on position. The doors will lock themselves. Thats when you can program up to 4 fobs. Press the unlock on a fob to unlock the door. Lock it again and use the next fob to unlock it again. Repeat for up to four fobs. If you want extra keys, you must first have two operating keys. This doesn't work with trying to use the same key for step one and two. Put one in the switch, turn it to the on (not crank) position and take it back out. Within 2 seconds you put the second key in and do the same. Within 2 seconds again you put the new cut key into the switch and turn it to the on position and leave it. Wait 5-10 seconds and use the new key to crank the vehicle.
