Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Left rear window will not go up or down. Window control switch on drivers door is new,
window motor works when jumped with a hot wire. Window will not lower when top is
lowered. Any thoughts on what else is wrong?

Did the window stop working before or after the new window control switch was replaced ? And window is not working from drivers side window switch or window switch at the door correct ?

The window stopped before the switch replacement. This is a convertible so the window should work from the drivers door or when the top goes up and down.

If you test that window switch that does not work at the drivers side switch is there power going to the switch when tested with a test light?

Power comes out of the switch in the up position but will not move the window up. In the down position no power comes out of the switch. When power is put directly to the window motor the widow works up and down.

I have same problem with my 2000 Sebring conv. Left rear window does not go down with switch or top controls- I have replaced the switch, the logic controller in front door that has the time delay for the top lowering function, and the window motor with regulator. My repair manual does not have a diagram so I am lost at this time.

If you have tried all you can think of and all else fails you will have to trace the wires from the motor to where they run through the frame to the fuse box not an easy job but that is all that is left to try. Wire maybe be pinched going through the frame or something of that nature.

The wiring harness coming from the driver side front post to the door will flex the wiring when opening the door. This in turn will wear and break the wiring. You may be able to see broken insulation on the wiring or just the copper wire inside will break first. It is a splice fix only that is needed to repair. Sometimes you can diagnose by moving the wire harness back and forth while pushing the switch. This can make a temporary connection as the window will move. This wiggle does not fix issue. You must open the weather seal tube and splice the wiring. Done this on several different makes of cars. Most recent was 2002 Sebring.
