Transmission work in not a DIY. If your transmission will not shift, have it towed to a garage. The issue can start with low fluid due to a leak to a complete rebuild. But for how old your car is and what the average mileage is, it isn't worth fixing if you have to rebuild it IMO. Hard to say where we sit. Get a professional opinion first.
