Rubbing sound while turning steering wheel, 2001 Sebring LXi

Rubbing sound at low speed or stop from front wheel area when turning steering wheel.  When I take some weight off the left front wheel, the sound goes away.  Sounds like rubber or plastic, not metal-on-metal.  Wheels seem tight, no bearing or tie-rod issues.  126,000km.

look under front end while someone else turns wheel. Look and see if the fender is catching on something like the tire.

sounds like a dry balljoint socket, these are non greaseable on sebrings and stratus'
