You should check for PCM differences between the two models. You'll probably require some sort of update

What Do you mean by PCM differences? Can a plain normal 2007 5.4 triton engine be replaced by a 2010 5.4 triton engine.
There are computer programs and test which control the operation of the engine via the Power Control Module. Modifications to engines are made all the time by manufacturers. The engine could be the same from one year to another but certain operation conditions could be monitored differently and controlled in a different way. As an example have a 2010 F-150 with a 4.6 V8. I have already had two PCM updates installed in the vehicle when I brought it to the dealership for oil changes. My neighbor has a 2011 with the same engine and hasn't required one yet. A check of the net should give you direction.
Apparently to stupid to get a yes or no answer
