2000 Chrysler Sebring wont communicate with my OBD II Scanner

Asked by GuruBYWJN Dec 13, 2018 at 12:51 PM about the 2000 Chrysler Sebring JXi Convertible FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a Craftsman 87702 Scan Tool.  It cannot communicate with my 2000
Sebring JXI but communicates fine with my other vehicles (02 Corvette, 04
Expedition).  My Sebring communicates fine with other scan tools.  What am I
doing wrong?

Some scan tools will not communicate with some makes or models. I found a good little cheap scanner that has worked with everything I have hooked it to. Autel MS300 about 15 dollars online. Gets good reviews. I have several in the shop for going outside the shop or doing rescues.

My 2000 Sebring convertible did the same thing. My OBD II scanner quit communicating with the cars computer. It turned out to be the 10AMP raised fuse near the center of the fuse block on drivers side of the dashboard. It does not say a thing about OBD 11 or ECM on the fuse diagram. The diagram calls it "INT LAMPS RADIO MEM". When I checked it it was blown. When I replaced it everything electrical I was having problems with started working . The electric trunk opener button , the OBD II connection, my radio and the internal lights all stated working. Someone told me that was the fuse the dealers sometimes pull to keep the car battery from draining during long storage periods. I am positive that is where your problem is.
