Yes it will fit but it will take modification. You will have to get the STI wiring harness, ECU, fuel pump, exhaust, and if you don't want a shreded transmission, the STI transmission will be needed as well. Also unless you are going to run an STI hood so you can make use of the top mount intercooler the STI uses, you will need to modify your front bumper and install a front mount intercooler.

Has anyone done this work before (swapping sti engine and tran into an impreza)? Just trying to get judgement on about how long it would take to do this kind of work in a garage setting...

I have an answer for guru13y5n. and question in general. Answer I am swapping my 04 Wrx with an 06 sti. It would’ve taken me at least 2 months sooner if I knew what I got myself into and what I needed. Also did it in my driveway not garage and had a lot of rainy days to kill my momentum. If you have questions on it I hope to answer them cause I have a few of my own. My question. I used the harness from the sti and ecu but kept the airbag module harness from the wrx. Reason that the fuel pump connector is different. I went to start the car to just see if things work. The sti cluster illuminated and I heard relays clicking from the engine bay. The car would not start. I jumped it and no dice. Any sort of help would be awesome. Thank you.

Hey Uriel, so currently i have a 2010 impreza 2.0 and im tired with this slow engine so i was planning on purchasing a 2012 WRX half-cut and swapping its engine into mines and keeping my automatic tranny to swap out the old manual transmission from the WRX. And NO, buying a used/new WRX is not an option for me. The half-cut includes everything (intercooler, fuel pump, turbo, ECU and etc). Im planning to do this in a mechanic shop so it will be done by a professional. So is it possible for me to do this ?
