99 Chrysler 300m 3.5 engine started to overheat

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Recently replaced thermostat water pump fans radiator an car still overheats, one day while driving
My trans cooler line had a crack in it which caused fluid to come out quickly causing the car to slip out of geAr then
had this replaced an car ran fine the next day coming from the store about5 mile drive it overheAted an reservoir
tank boiled over . The upper hose was extremely hot to touch lower holes was cool but coolant reservoir level kept
fluctuating I was told it could be air trapped in the system that u need to bleed it how do u bleed the system or
could it be something else causing the system to block the flow? Will air keep the system from flowing? Please
help me give me advice thanks

Yes trapped air in cooling system is going to reduce system effectiveness. If there is air trapped by thermostat it can fail to open. You can also blow head gaskets and crack heads with trapped air in system. These engines have a coolant system air bleed valve. One way to do this is to connect a small tube to the bleed valve, put end of tube into a container. Then add coolant until no bubbles come from tube. You will have to squeeze the upper radiator hose during this process to expel trapped air. Keep doing this until no air comes from tube and you are certain air is all out. Then make sure the coolant reservoir has plenty of fluid, run the engine up to temp, shut down the engine and let the cooling process draw coolant back into engine. You should pay attention to the level in the coolant reservoir when engine is hot and cold there should be significant difference in levels.
on this car the radiator is lower than engine coolant level. that's why there is a bleeder valve to right of upper radiator hose outet on top of engine.its a 10mm socket, use a 1/4 drive and socket extension. warm -op engine and use clear hose to a container to catch overflow. loosen bleeder valve and put clear hose over it. also make sure coolant recovery tank does not have any cracks or holes as it is pressurized. autozone sells one for around $40 and it comes with a new radiator cap.also there is a product called wetter water which you add to your anti-freeze,about 10 ounces to a bottle. what it does is lower the temp. of the rad. fluid by not allowing bubbles to form inside cooling system. sort of like the bubbles that cling to the side of a pot when you boil water. also at a/zone
most likely your radiator fans are not turning on to boil over recovery tank. make sure to turn on a/c with engine running because both fans must come on. if when you are standing in front of your car and the fan on your left is on it means the fan on right is not working and that fan is the fan that is only on when a/c is off and engine temp is over 160 degrees. if you have a bad fan look for a salvage yard that specializes in dodge parts if you can, youll have to buy both fans and shroud as a unit but youll have an extra fan for the future.
once you replace the radiator you HAVE TO BUY a new radiator CAP!! There is also a fan sensor that you will need to replace too that tells the fan to turn on to cool the radiator. more questions please email me at some1unv@gmail.com and put 300M in the subject please
thermostat in the wrong way will cause this issue, spring side goes inside the block. just a thought thanks

If the fans come on with the air conditioner on and they don't come with no air conditioner running then it is safe to say the fans work. It is possible the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is malfunctioning. This over looked computer also controls your fans. Most people by this time replaced the relays because they are cheap and easy fix. If the motor does not over heat on the highway but only in traffic, this is the possible problem. Not overheating on the highway is because of motor design and generally cars today don't need a fan on the highway because of air flow across the radiator and motor is sufficient to keep the motor cool.
[Your Name] [Instructor Name] [Course Number] [Date] Revised Compliant too many typos in the first one: . On 1/25/2017 I took my car to Good Guys on 2530 N Weber Fresno Ca, to be work on. The shop did an inspection found low compression in cycle number #2 fail leak down test suspect valve issues recommend value job. After he opens up the engine on 2/25/2017 and calls to tell me that it was the rocker arm, ask me to meet him at the shop to take a look at what he talking about. I gave him permission to start the job. On 3/08/2017 the car was out of the shop. 3/10/2017 car back in the shop engine check like came on reading multiple random misfires he cleared the code and that the engine needs to adjust and for me to drive for a few days. Car back in the shop on 3/13/2017 out took it back on 3/14/2017 Armin stated that he was going do a smoke test for leaks, went back after work Armin stated that it was massive air flow sensor and that he needed to order the part.3/47/2017 when back no part stated he'll have it on the 3/20/2017 took the car back on the 3/20/2017 got the car back on the 3/21/2017 drove the car to work and was hearing two dings sounds like the one you hear when the check engine lets you know that the car has a problem. what he did not know in a Chrysler 300 you can turn the key twice and a code comes up on the dashboard. He wanted me to show how I did it, show him. He brushed off and cleared the code and said comes back if the code comes back on he will fix the problem and gave new windshield wipers. 3/23/2017 took the car back the same code the manage Ron stated the light bulb to the check engine light must have blown out. I was frustrated by this time and told the manager that they need to fix my car or we can go to court. Ron stated that they will fix the problem. The car was being worked on and they test drove from 3/23/2017 to until 3/31/2017. 4/1/2018 check engine light came back on, took the car back and Armin stated that he was going to stop playing around and break the car engine back down he further stated that the problem was on the side that he did regarding the rocker arm. I thought that he did both sides, that's what I was being charged for both side 2500. Called the Bureau of Automotive to open up a complaint. 4/13/2017 got my car back 4/14/2017 check engine light back on the same problem was told after getting my car back that he had taken out and put new spark plugs adjusted the values and clean the injectors. problems were still existing with the car. I was told by Ron that he was going to get some type of new software and reprogram the computer to do a computer software update on the car. after the bureau of automotive came out they future out what the problem was timing chain was off. warranty one years our 12000 miles. 8/1/2017 check engine like came back on (code128) car ran hot they inspected it and found lower radiator hose was loose put coolant in. had supposedly fixed the problem. the check engine light came back on same code 128 11/5/2017 took the car back they put another thermostat in the last time it came on was April 7, 2018, called to tell them that it came back on and I was told my warranty ran out. Got frustrated and called the other good guys shop on Blackstone and explain what happened with the warranty and all, and asked how much would it cost for them to put another thermostat in they stated that Armin needs to fix the problem that they couldn't roll it over to there shop because he owns it. Called Ron back and told him what the other guys had said. He stated that Armin was on jury duty, never got a callback. took the car to my mechanic he put a thermostat and a radiator in the car is still running hot. Took the car back to the shop and now he is saying that he doesn't have to fix it because of another mechanic touching the car and the mechanic did not bleed the car right. wrong he did bleed the car right However after taking to Armin he stated today 4/18/2018 that he went ahead and bleed the car and is now blaming the thermostat that my mechanic put in the car is the reason why it is running hot the car was running hot before that.
