Engine replacement affect on car value

Asked by Joshua May 01, 2019 at 07:18 AM about the 2011 Kia Optima SX Turbo

Question type: Car Selling & Trading In

The dealer replaced the engine on my 2011 Kia
optima due to a recall. The body and transmission
have 162,000 miles on them while the engine now
has bout 100 miles on it. I'm considering trying to
sell the vehicle but don't know that impacts the
value, what would be a realistic price?

It really depends on the condition of the vehicle. 162K miles is a lot of wear and tear on the car. The new engine will enhance the value of the car but you will not know how much until you list it for sale. Looks like the value is about 4,500 - 5,500 on kbb.com. You could try asking a thousand or so more and see how it goes. Another option may be to go to Carmax and get an appraisal to see what they offer. Their offer will be less but at least give you a bottom line.
