Subwoofer replacement

Question type: General
I have a 2002 Toyota Solara V6 convertible. It has a JBL sound system and the woofer
(subwoofer?) is blown. It appears to be a 9 inch. Factory replacements are on back order
and could take months. I see no 9 inch ones available but I can find an 8 inch. How do I
know if my old system has the power to drive a new woofer?

I had the same problem with my 2003. I purchased an 8" generic sub and it works great. Considerations: Steer away from high wattage units. The one I purchased had a 300watt max. It must be shallow mount to fit in the box, and you're looking for dual driver(Voice coil) 4ohm. This is all assuming you have the JBL sound system. Don, from Folsom.
Don, what did you pay for your replacement, and where did you get it? I have this same problem with my 2002 Solara Convertible. SLE. Thanks, Carl, West Sacramento
Hi, Amazon.com has an 8" foam ring that will fix the problem. Cost $10 and there is a YouTube video on how to replace foam rings on subs. Works like a charm. Good Luck!
