2012 Dodge Durango intermittent starting problems.

Asked by GRAN1978 Dec 01, 2014 at 03:45 PM about the 2012 Dodge Durango SXT RWD

Question type: General

My Son recently purchased a beautiful 2012 Dodge Durango with 13,000 miles on it.
After a few weeks he started to experience intermittent problems starting the car. It
would startup and then shutoff after 5 seconds. Tried to restart car it would just turn and
turn as if out of gas. It would eventually start and then we would experience the same
issue for 5 or 7 days later. Very frustrating. Took it to Dodge dealer several times and
they can't find any problems. This has been going on several months now. Anybody
experience this issue to have ideas to resolve this? Thanks. ME

when you turn the key on can you hear a pump running in the gas tank should be able to hear a slight noise back that way

yes but as it runs it builds up pressure so their might be a gas line leak if it is running constantly or you do not have enough gas in you tank

Thanks Mark. The information you provided is just what I was hoping for. Nothing the dealer said up to this point made any any sense. Knowledge is Power. Thanks again....

Once I had the same problem with my Dodge Durango 2000. The dealer never found nothing wrong but I countinued having the same problem. It was sutting off by itself so I took it to an individual mechanic shop that changed the fuel pump and it worked. Never got the same problem again.
