97 LHS Wont Start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The owner is not mechanically inclined at all.  He asked me to look at it.  Car sat for a
year and a half after he thought it overheated and ceased up on him.  But when I looked
at it the oil wasnt milky and the coolent wasnt low at all and was bright clear green.
Replaced the battery, coil cam timing sensor and plugs.   The plugs were very badly
worn and some oil soaked.  Owner did not want to do wires.  Turns over but wont start.
I disconnected the air plenum and tried to start it and got a small engine fire.  So i think
its getting both fuel and spark.  Any ideas?

The gas is dead. May have flooded the plugs out again. Add 5 gallon of fresh 93 octane gas and a bottle of octane boost.

tank is full. did add a bottle of octain boost. gas caught on fire just fine. had to dump water on the engine to put out the fire infact. think we are going to try a crankshaft sensor next.

Pull a spark plug wire off and stick a screwdriver in it to see if it is firing first.

found a vid on youtube that shows how to ohm test spark plug wires with a multimeter. as far as i can tell they all test good. I pulled out the crankshaft sensor and there was wet oil all in the connector. took the harness end apart and it was more than could be cleaned or repaired. going to go to the junk yard and get a new harness side connector and splice it in to a new crank shaft sensor.

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/repairguides/Chrysler-Concorde- Intrepid-LHS-New-Yorker-Vision-1993-1997/DISTRIBUTORLESS- IGNITION-SYSTEM/General-Information/_/P-0900c1528006a88a according to this. the computer wont tell the coil to fire unless it gets a signal from the crankshaft sensor. "The PCM uses the camshaft position sensor to determine injector sequence. The PCM determines ignition timing from the crankshaft position sensor. Once the crankshaft position has been determined, the PCM begins energizing the injectors in sequence."
