97 Chrysler Sebring fuel pump issue
Asked by Jerry Sep 12, 2019 at 02:07 PM about the 1997 Chrysler Sebring JXi Convertible FWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 97 Chrysler Sebring JXI and the fuel pump I'm trying to replace looks
nothing like the ones that the parts store says it calls for. Totally off the wall
here, but... Is it possible that the gas tank is not the original one? There is
some paint overspray around the fuel filler. If so, what other models have had
tanks that might be interchangeable with mine? That would give me another
way to find a replacement fuel pump.

have them pull a fuel pump from an earlier year to compare to yours or later years as well. Should have photos of the pup on the screen they are looking at.
They did that while I was there. Nothing Sebring matched. That was what got me thinking about the gas tank being swapped out. For example, if the tank is off a Stratus, then chances are it's a different pump. I could be wrong, but that's what I thought of at the time. I'm trying to reach the people we bought it from to see if they know, but they haven't returned my call.

I would just go to the people I purchased it from if they don't reply to a call. Its like finding a needle in a haystack other wise. Or get one from a salvage yard tank and all
