2012 ford transit connect xlt no radiator or a/c fans turning on

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I’ve been trying to locate the problem for a while now. The
van has started to climb in temperature and neither fan
turns on when I activate the a/c.

Which fan is the a/c fan and which is the radiator fan?

I was having issues blowing the 50 amp fuse for the fan
but now I haven’t had any issues with the fuse blowing.

Started checking things under the hood. Both the 50 amp
high speed and 30 amp low speed fuses test good for
continuity.

Pulled both fan relays and both operate perfectly with 12
volts applied and have continuity across the switch’s with
power applied.

I tried checking for voltage at both plugs for the fans but
didn’t have anything. Tried pulling control voltage at the
fuse block but wasn’t getting any voltage there.

I know there’s a fan resister that could of been causing the
fuse to blow so I will be changing that out soon.

Tried applying 12 volts directly to the smaller fan and
wasn’t getting it to turn on. The larger fan I could not
reach the plug to repeat the test on that one.

Any suggestions as to what to look at or what fan should
turn on with a/c? Any help would be great.

Thank you in advance!!

Todd

After going through everything again today I found the 50 amp fuse partially blown. When I pulled the fuse and tested it, it would read continuity. But when I inserted it into the fuse block the internal parts of the fuse would separate cutting power to the fan relay. Swapped out the fuse and also replaced the fan resister to stop the fuse shorting issue. Hope this helps someone else in the future

It’s located behind the fan switch for your ac. It’s the switch on the instrument panel below the radio
