How to remove the cover of the power steering reservoir?

Asked by mon1017 Feb 10, 2020 at 06:30 AM about the 2012 Hyundai Sonata GLS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Need help: While trying to reduce amount of power steering fluid, small
plastic object fell inside the reservoir. How do I remove the whole cover so I
can look for the debris.

The cap can easily be removed, but I want to remove the whole cover, not
just the cap, so I can pick up the debris which fell inside.

I'm pretty sure the cover is glued onto the reservoir itself. Most reservoirs has a filter at the bottom. But if you really want to get the piece out, you will have to remove the reservoir and flush it out or replace.
