Last night, my 2012 Hyundai Sonata shut off while I was driving (128,000 miles on it). My mechanic says there are two fuel pumps, and likely the high pressure pump is the one that failed. OM part is about $550.
my vehicle has done 50000 miles and the high pressure fuel pump needs to be replaced and Hundayi south says it will cost $800.00. Firstly is this very common for Sonatas especially a 2012 model to have problems and is the price correct?
I also have 2012 Sonata code P087 fuel pump failure replaced myself took 1/2 hour car started right away and is running great only problem engine light is still on not sure why or how to shut off , I bought fuel pump on line for 175.00$ I am done with Hyundai

We ended up installing both fuel pumps; close to $900 in parts. My mechanic advised me to stick with Toyota or Honda cars in the future.
Same issue, 3 weeks ago. 2012 Sonata, 106,000 miles, cost me about $750.00 to fix high energy fuel pump
Just got this in the mail... factory recall.
It should of been still under warranty at 63000 miles. Also, there is a recall on the pressure fuel line.
8/8/2019. My 2012 sonata getting pump and fuel line tomorrow 950.00 at 119,000 miles. Engine knocks pings and when the happe ed no acceleration but rpm wld be high. Dealer says has nothing to do w engine warranty so have to pay out of pocket. And i have not had engine replaced..after 2 repair/fixes . 800 miles it will be out of ex warranty
How long can you drive with a high pressure fuel pump that’s going out?
