Last night, my 2012 Hyundai Sonata shut off while I was driving (128,000 miles on it). My mechanic says there are two fuel pumps, and likely the high pressure pump is the one that failed. OM part is about $550.

my vehicle has done 50000 miles and the high pressure fuel pump needs to be replaced and Hundayi south says it will cost $800.00. Firstly is this very common for Sonatas especially a 2012 model to have problems and is the price correct?

We ended up installing both fuel pumps; close to $900 in parts. My mechanic advised me to stick with Toyota or Honda cars in the future.

It should of been still under warranty at 63000 miles. Also, there is a recall on the pressure fuel line.
