What does CarGurus Instant Market mean

Asked by Vicki Jul 02, 2020 at 07:00 PM about the 2012 Chevrolet Volt FWD

Question type: Car Selling & Trading In

I want to sell my car and I put in my vin and it said:
CarGurus Instant Market             $8,513
Private Sale Estimate                  $7,393
Trade-in Value                             $4,328

When I put in the information and that I wanted to ask, it said it was a fair
deal.  Where does it calculate that?  How can I get the CarGurus Instant
Market price of $8,513?

The instant market price is the average price of what other like vehicles are selling on this site. This is a dealer price, and if you are selling privately you can expect to sell your car for around $7K to $7500 which is the private Sale est. If you want the $8500, you will have to find a buyer willing to pay you that much. Dealer prices are always more due to overhead and warranties.
