Why does my 2012 A4 lose power?

My A4 (I4 engine) loses power while driving or when started (not driving) it
shakes like it going to fall apart. It will run for a day and then the problem
returns. The problem may persist for 2 or 3 days. A variety of warning lights
come and go.
