I need to replace BCM on my 2006 Dodge Caravan.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi,
I've ordered a used BCM for my '06 Grand Caravan. Does this need to be programmed after installation in order for it to work on my vehicle??  I watched a youtube video that said if I turn ignition key on -- but don't start vehicle --  the replacement unit will program itself.  I really, really don't want to take this to a DEALER to have this done

You may not have a choice, most BCM's do not have any long term capacitors to keep memory alive so they loose programming and if that happens then your stuck with a dealer to get it re-flashed. But you might luck out.
