I paid $1,200 for a motor and labor. I picked the car up twice and had to take it back because the car was stopping in the middle of the road, and skipping. When I went to pick the car up Friday they charged me an extra $350.00 but never told me they were charging extra. I am I required to pay this extra money for work I did not authorize?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I paid $1,200 for a motor and labor. I picked the car up twice and had to take it back because the car was stopping in the middle of the road, skipping and the air was not working. When I went to pick the car up Friday they charged me an extra $350.00 but never told me they were charging extra. The air still did not work.  I am I required to pay this extra money for work I did not authorize?

I would recommend that you report this to the local Bureau of Automotive Repairs.... Good luck.

You paid for an engine and labor and sounds like that is what you got. I am pretty sure the other problem and the A/C were not included (we have no way to verify this).

I think the real question is whether they failed to disclose the $350 charge... That would not be good.

In Michigan you must have a written and signed estimate to ok extras ,,don't pay just call BBB to see about your state
