How long does a Audi engine last? Specific: 2012 Audi A7 Prestige.

Buying a 6 year old Audi is a crap shoot at best. Set aside plenty of money for repairs and maintenance. The condition of the car and how well it was maintained will determine how far you will be able to drive it. It all depends.........................

How many miles are on the car? The Audi 3.0t engine in that car is very well designed and a great performer. It made Ward's 10 best engine's list for 5 years straight (2010-2014) until Audi's diesel scam surfaced (not related) where Ward's pulled ALL Audi motors from their review. Being a late model car there's still not a whole lot of data on high mileage so it's a little undetermined. (many other Audi motors have reached over 200,000 miles without any issues with good maintenance) More often than not people will buy the cars and not keep up with general maintenance leaving the next owner with many repairs so It's very important to keep up on those items. If you've owned any cars from the the main German automakers you already understand that all of them come with expensive repair costs. The transmission in this car is the new ZF 8-speed which is a very stout transmission and you'll find these across many different platforms across several automakers. Reiterating what the previous poster said on maintenance; I would try to understand as much as possible about the car's history and if all checks out understand what the costs are down the road should something come up. If you don't work on your own cars please have a trusted independent mechanic (that works on German cars) in mind; most dealers will overcharge. I know my response is along the same lines as what was already said, but wanted to provide some insight. Best of luck.

i bought a 2013 a year ago and it is perfectly fine. i had a 1998 audi a4 for 6 years with out to much hasle. when it comes to a audi it all depends on how much of a shit the owner gave of the car before you. My old one had 387,000km on it before it bllew out a dif and the engine still purred like a kitten. with an audi its basicly keep up with the proper maintence and you will be fine
