Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2006 Dodge Caravan 3.8 transmission sometimes while driving will have
the transmission disengage.  Pushing on peddle will rev the engine but
nothing.  Put car in park.  Turn off car, turn back on and drive away like
nothing happened.  Happens very seldom but when it does on the highway,
whoa!  Sometimes I think it happens when I brake suddenly but not sure if
that's the issue.  Seems like possibly electric issue?

make sure your FULLY in drive, sometimes theres a tiny bit of play in your gearing so just make sure 1. you don't bump it, and 2. you have it as far in to gear as it can go because when your not locked in that can ruin your output shaft and your transmission as a whole. Also Dodge is kinda notourious for bad transmissions so watch out!!!

When it does happen and I put the car in park then drive the problem still exists. It's only after putting the car in park, turning it off then on that I can then drive with no issues.
