2006 Durango - wipers cause engine to die

2006 Durango - turning wipers on intermittent setting causes engine to die
at times. turn wipers up to low speed - no problem. happens rain or shine
so the water leaking onto the computer isnt the answer. last week tried to
squirt fluid onto windshield and that killed the engine. - only code received
is the one that says -'intermittent signal to PCM' or similar - which makes
sense because the engine died. will a new multifunction switch fix this
problem?

Ground to wiper is killing the ground to the ecm.
so do I need more ground? less ground? I'm not quite sure what you mean that one ground is killing the other.
The motor has a ground fault. More than likely the wiper motor is grounding out the ecm by sending a back charge to the ecm computer. Replace the wiper motor not the switch. That would be what is causing the engine to die. I had similar problem and the wipers to work very intermittently. Dodge said computer, then they said another ecm, then they said switch. I finally traced it back to the motor. replaced the motor and arms......all one unit for 84.00 and it all worked fine!!! Dodge doesn't even know their own product. Tthis is what I found on my truck! But sure beats paying for computers and ecm modules.....TOM
OK. Thanks for the clarification! I was not looking forward to paying for, or replacing that multi-function switch. of course, I may be cursing that wiper motor by the time I get it out of there too. I certainly appreciate the help!
wiper motor replaced - still having same problem. for two years now.
Makes me wanna trade mine in on a Chevy or older Durango like 2000 to 04.. when you find ur problem please let me know
