Timing belt

Not necessarily, matter of fact probably not. If the water pump froze up, then yes, it could have. But I don't know on that car if the water pump is driven by timing belt or serpentine belt. What mileage is on the car? And what engine?

Yes if you have the 3.0, the pump is driven by the same belt and it is recommended to be replaced with the belt, since you have to remove the entire front motor mount and engine cover to replace either one plus the water pump might've been the root cause
