resetting the anti theft alarm

I locked my 2004 escape as usual and when i went to leave pulled the handle before entering the key, the alarm started honking and putting the key in and started it horn keeps wailing  I disconnected the neg batt cable for 2 days and when connected it still wails how can I reset it or disable it

Have you tried locking and unlocking the driver side door, with battery connected? Use the stock dealership key it may have a chip in the key.
