Dead cylinder / misfire

Asked by Darrell Jan 18, 2017 at 09:38 PM about the 2006 Dodge Stratus SXT Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Cylinder 2 won't fire. I've replaced the coil pack,
wire set & plugs. When you crank it sometimes it
acts like it's flooded even though I haven't even
pressed the gas and you can smell gas & then other
times it cranks with no problem. I don't want to
drive it with 3 cylinders firing. Any suggestions?

Try the injectors (low possibility) after you see if you have a spark. Take a plug, put it in the wire, and put the side of the plug near the engine block (metal piece) and check if there's a spark.

After you put the plug metal near the engine metal piece, have someone crank the engine. this is how you check for spark...
