Transmission Issue

Asked by Chris Jul 30, 2013 at 11:25 AM about the 2002 Volkswagen Jetta GLS 1.8T

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I have a 2002 Jetta GLS 1.8t with Auto transmission. This is does not happen all of the
time, but sometimes the shift from 2-3 is a little jerky. I dont hear any weird sounds, but it
feels like its popping into gear. I was also on highway recently and was driving at around
80 mph. It was in 5th gear for about 30 mins and downshifted to 4th. I used the manual
shifter to shift to 5th with no problem, but in drive it kept shifting to 4th. Any ideas?

Check your engine mounts, this would be an easy fix if that's the problem. Transmission issues are not an easy fix.
