Jetta car dies right after I turn it on

Asked by Jturbo Dec 10, 2015 at 05:47 PM about the 2002 Volkswagen Jetta GLS 1.8T

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was out of state for a week and when I came
back my car was filled with water both front and
back on drivers side. (I live in washington)  and
my car didn't turn on so I charged the battery and
car turned on but the dash light didn't work and
the car would die immediately after it was turned
on. Someone said its the alternator. Please let me
know what you think thanks!

How much water are we talking about? If the car was in a flood you could have water in all kinds of electrical connections as well as other things.
