Asked by jacobson1387 Jun 21, 2016 at 11:43 AM about the 2012 Volkswagen Passat SE V6 with Sunroof

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We put in a new battery yesterday and when we connect the + cable it is
fine, once the negative cable is connected the cars fan comes on, the
lights come on, the wipers come on and the horn is at a contact honk.

Once we remove the negative cable it stops..

Why is it doing this? And how do we get the battery in and the car working
again?

Yes! We thought we had it correct, but the positive and negative were on the wrong side.. Once we flipped it, problem solved!
