Head lights and Emergency flashers

Asked by GuruXDD6P Oct 03, 2018 at 09:24 AM about the 2005 Dodge Durango SLT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2005 Dodge Durango HEAD LIGHTS &
EMERGENCY FLASHERS are flashing on &
off just like if you turned on the emergency
flashers. On high beam headlights don’t flash
but the emergency flashers do, I purchased
the Durango at an auto auction, Durango
didn’t come with the main key. Got the 2nd
key & they was not flashing when it came
threw for bids & I drove 50 miles home.
Everything worked great. My daughter & son
in law unlocked the door by hand or
something. They don’t know what they did to
make Durango start flashing. Ever sense last
year, I have been to 2 dodge dealer ships ,
one in searcy Arkansas, they kept it almost 2
week. Said I needed the main key. Said they
could order it. That would fix it. I said ok long
as it was fixed. 2 week & said they Couldn’t
program the key with the Durango or fix it.
Charged me $650.00 for nothing, Then I went
to dodge dealership in batesville ,Arkansas
They said they could fix it. Left it again 2
weeks. Went to check on Durango, they said
they got it locked in 4 wheel drive and can’t
get it out and I am not for sure but thing they
cut wires & took a box out of my Durango on
passger side kick Panel cause the planel has
been removed & poorly put back, & they said
don’t know what’s making headlights and
emergency flashers flash, they wanted
$1000.00. Told them they got to be kidding,
they got it locked in 4 wheel drive, don’t
know how to get it out of 4 wheel drive &
after keeping it 2  weeks telling me I have to
drive it off the Property, can’t leave it setting,
I had to drive it gime, 35 miles in 4 wheel
drive , did get it out of 4 wheel drive. But
everything is still flashing, now check engine
light stays on and another yellow/orange light
stays on. Other than that. Durango starts
right up, runs and drives great. I have been
stopped by cops telling me I cannot drive
itvwith everything flashing. I am a single mom
it’s 3 girls and I cannot afford to buy another
car. I have to slip around back roads & hit
from cops, they told me they would give me
a ticket if caught me out with everything
flashing. I am at the end of my rope. What do
or can I do to get my Durango fixed. No one
knows how to fix them. Can I contact the
main dodge corporates and complain to
them, I got to go to work & just so many
roads you can take before you have to get on
main road to go to work or home. I am living
on borrowed time right not.   HElP

It sounds as if you've really been ripped off. No doubt your body control module is going bad expect the wipers to act up next, I could suggest a cobble but if I were you I wouldn't touch the car until a Chrysler rep. looks at it. There's a customer service number at the back of the owners manual or call 1-800-334-9200 In the future choose a shop that employs ASE certified mechanics, I hope this helps you. Take care
