Lincoln MKX 2012 usb and GPS stopped temporarily

Hi, After 6 hours of a trip recently, the MP3 player that was connected abruptly stopped transmitting through the USB port and at the same time the GPS system stopped and said that I needed to insert a valid card. I removed the card and reinserted it and the message was the same. I unplugged the UBS to the player and reinserted and nothing happened with the sound. I turned the car off for a while and on restart, the Nav system screen would not illuminate and the message at the top right corner said to insert a valid card that was already there. The player that showed to be playing would not broadcast through the UBS port.

I left the car off for a day and when I started it up, everything, GPS and player through the USB port worked just fine.

I looked through all of the inquiries here and don't see any similar problem - does anyone have an idea as to what is happening here?

I very much appreciate the consideration and advice.

Had the same problem in my 2012 MKX. It was attributed to an iPod I had connected. For some reason it was acting like a battery drain which shut off all other functions. I traded the vehicle and stopped using the iPod.

Thanks very much for your answer. It would make sense that something like this could tilt the system. I will not use both at the same time. Thanks again for telling me your thoughts. It would seem like this would occur often. Frank
