Error (Top Not Locked)

I have a Mini Cooper a 2012 model. The plastic
middle part of the top inside came off and we we t
about fixing it. The top now goes up and down
without the plastic covering falling off. But now our
dashboard screen shows this error saying "TOP
NOT LOCKED" and dies the annoying beeping
sound.

Anyone know how to fix this? It seems that the top
is locked because I can put it all the way back

Hm. I think maybe if you pop by an auto parts store and have them read your codes and delete them this might be resolved. If not, check and see if you can find the wiring diagram for your model and find where the sensor is. Maybe there is a short

My 2008 Mini Convertible is doing the same thing. "Top Not Locked" indicator is lit and it makes an annoying ding while driving.
