Trying to find out if anyone knows if there is any truth to this. AutoZone tells
me they won't replace a battery on a 2012 Jetta SEL because it has to be
"reprogrammed" once new battery is installed, leaving it to be towed to a
dealer. I need a new battery but was wondering if I truly NEED a dealer or if
AutoZone may have just had a bad day...
The car loses settings when you replace a battery. You need a code saver to keep the settings. I bought one for $15 on Amazon with a long cord that plugs into another cars cigarette lighter and then the other end plugs into your OBD2 connector under the dash. You can also use a charged up jump starter as the power source.
