Question type: Maintenance & Repair

A transmission cooler. On automatic transmissions, the transmission fluid runs through separate lines in the radiator. If the new transmission doesn't have the fittings, you would need an external transmission cooler. It would probably be easier to get the correct radiator.

May be cheaper too as said above, as you will need a large cooler otherwise and also (more important in cooler regions) the radiator helps bring up the trans fluid temp. Sometimes these in the radiator trans coolers can leak (either way into coolant or coolant into trans fluid). Not a bad idea or unheard of. If towing you will need a larger unit, either way one designed as a stand alone cooler, and/or kit with a extra fan.
